Convention Center Denver to Host Pre-conference Courses for 2015 AORN Nursing Conference

The AORN 2015 nursing conference at the convention center Denver will offer pre-conference courses and seminars. These include Moderate Sedation in Ambulatory Surgery, Ownership of Our Nursing Practice: Are We Giving it Away?, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Physical Assessment: Keys to Unlocking the Mysteries of the Acute Abdomen and Shock, and 6th Annual International Summit: United in the Pursuit of Excellence.

AORN 2015 Seminars at the Convention Center Denver

The Moderate Sedation in Ambulatory Surgery seminar teaches the practice and role of a sedation nurse, patient selection, monitoring and management, medication administration, care and discharge and risk management. This course costs $250 for members and $400 for non-members and lasts a half-day on Saturday, March 7.

The Ownership of Our Nursing Practice: Are We Giving it Away? session includes a pre-conference webinar. Then at the nursing conference at the convention center Denver attendees will have an opportunity to get questions answered, and discuss solution and network with other attendees and speakers. This seminar will discuss historical, legal, leadership and implications for practices on how you can protect patients when they can’t protect themselves. This session costs $150 for members and $300 for non-members and takes place on Saturday, March 7 at the Convention Center Denver.

The Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Physical Assessment: Keys to Unlocking the Mysteries of the Acute Abdomen and Shock presentation focuses on managing patients with acute abdomen and shock. After the acute abdomen and shock group activity, there will be an overview of model updates. Basic pharmacology, anti-infective medications and emergency medications will be reviewed. It will focus on the terms of pharmacology, various classes of anti-infective agents and, commonly used emergency medications. The goal is a knowledge of the use of antibiotics and emergency medications and an understanding of pharmacologic principles. The presentation takes place at the convention center Denver from 7:30am – 3:30pm and costs $250 for members and $400 for non-members.

Finally, the 6th Annual International Summit: United in the Pursuit of Excellence will include speakers who will share stories that will help us in pursuing excellent patient care. Topics discussed will include staff working efficiently during off hours, nurses working together from different cultures, an overview of the Indian healthcare system and roundtable discussions. The cost of the summit is $140 for members and non-members alike and will take place on Saturday, March 7 at the convention center Denver.
